Scaffolding Skip Hire Services

Scaffolding and a rubbish skip on site

What is scaffolding?

Scaffolding, also called scaffold or staging, is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other man made structures. Scaffolds are widely used on site to get access to heights and areas that would be otherwise hard to get to. Unsafe scaffolding has the potential to result in death or serious injury. Scaffolding is also used in adapted forms for formwork and shoring, grandstand seating, concert stages, access/viewing towers, exhibition stands, ski ramps, half pipes and art projects.

What are scaffold towers?

Scaffold towers are highly useful alternatives to ladders when there's a lot of work to be done at height.
Scaffold Towers have large work platforms, which can comfortably fit a worker and any necessary tools and materials, while at the same time being both rigid and stable. The work platforms offer a much safer environment to work from compared to balancing on a ladder. Scaffold towers are self-supporting, meaning they do not need to be leaned against any wall or building.

What is a skip?

A skip is a large open-topped waste container designed for loading onto a special type of lorry. Instead of being emptied into a bin lorry on site, as a wheelie bin is, a skip is removed, or replaced by an empty skip, and then tipped at a landfill site or transfer station.
